What I do

I'm an independent researcher from Cheshire. The public science archives hold enormous amounts of data that everyone can download and almost no one fully reads. I build the tools to read it properly, and I find what is buried there: wrecks on the seabed, new life in the DNA record, the ground under a fireball. Same move every time, better instruments on data the whole world already has.

What I'm building

Three pipelines, one idea: take data everyone already has, and find the thing in it that no one has named yet.

Wreckhunt

I find lost ships in open seabed survey data. Public bathymetry, reprocessed at full resolution, gives up hulls the charts never recorded, and I put a name to them by size, build, and the drift that carried the ship down. It re-finds three quarters of known wrecks on sight, and it has surfaced fresh targets in the North Sea that the diving press went on to feature.

Abyss

I hunt undescribed life in the deep-sea DNA record. Abyss reads through millions of ocean sequence records and pulls out the lineages that match nothing science has named yet, the candidate new branches of the tree of life sitting unnoticed in archives anyone can open.

Aerolith

I work out where meteorites hit the ground. Aerolith rebuilds a fireball's fall zone from public sensor and radar data. Point it at a known fall and it lands the answer: Osceola to within 3.2 km, the full Winchcombe strewn field reproduced from scratch.
